DAY 01: SATURDAY MUMBAI

This afternoon you are requested to assemble at 1500 hours at The Taj Mahal Palace and Tower, Mumbai for completing your registration and check-in formalities at the hotel for your journey for the Maharajas’ Express. Later on, you will transfer to the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus Railway Station. Upon your arrival at the station, you will have a warm welcome and drinks along with the Police Band playing on your boarding the Maharajas’ Express.

The Maharajas’ Express departs Mumbai for Goa at 1715 hours nearly and travels during the land of the Marathas. Disembark at Ratnagiri to visit the Ruins Ratnadurg Fort and thus, Govt. Aquarium and thus have the pleasures of Maratha land. Return to the train, dinner on board and Overnight on the Maharaja Express. Dinner on board

DAY 02: SUNDAY GOA

After onboard breakfast, proceed to visit the famous Churches of North Goa – the Basilica of Bom Jesus which is a UNESCO World Heritage site and has the ruins of Saint Francis Xavier. Later visit the Se Cathedral which is opposite to the Basilica of Bom Jesus. This Cathedral was built to commemorate the victory of Goa by the Portuguese after the defeat of Muslim army. Your next activity will be a walking tour of the Old Panjim houses which will give you the glimpse of the blend of the Portuguese culture and the native Goanese. Return to the train for onboard delicious lunch.

You deboard the train at around 15:45 hrs and get ready for an evening of dance and music performance. On the way, you visit the famous Goa Chitra Museum. This museum houses the best of the private ethnographic collection of carts, palanquins, farming tools etc. depicting the growth of civilization in Goa. Later proceed to attend an exclusive Goan carnival music followed by dinner at an exclusive venue. After having dinner return to enjoy the comforts of Maharajas’ Express. Overnight on the Maharajas’ Express.

DAY 03: MONDAY GOA – HAMPI

Enjoy the delicious breakfast on the train. While the train is moving to its further destination-Hampi and gaze at the wonderful natural beauty and scenic background. Enjoy onboard lunch and as you arrive Hospet Railway Station proceed to visit Anegudi Village. Located across the Tungabhadra River this Sylvan village abounds in natural beauty and the history goes back to Neolithic Age. Here you can Interact with the locals and indulge in activities to know much about native life and culture. The other option before is to rejuvenate yourself in the spa session at one of the luxurious hotels. Later return back to the luxuries of Maharajas’ Express. Your dinner will be served onboard. Overnight on the Maharajas’ Express.

DAY 04: TUESDAY HAMPI

On the fourth day of your journey after early breakfasts deboard the train for your sightseeing of the World Heritage Site of Hampi. These groups of monuments built in stone cover the large expanse of an area and are a witness to the highly developed Dravidian style of architecture of the Vijayanagar kingdom. Some of the most popular sites at Hampi are – Virupaksha Temple, Narasimha Statute, Ganesha Statue, Elephant Stables. Your visit will be Vittla Temple complex which the houses the Musical Pillars Temple and the Stone Chariot. Here you like you can enjoy a Tuk Tuk.

Later return back to the luxury train for tasty lunch and dinner also onboard. Overnight stay on the Maharajas’ Express for Mysore.

DAY 05: WEDNESDAY MYSORE

After breakfast being served onboard, disembark from the Maharaja Express for visiting the gorgeous Wodeyar Palace which is known as the Mysore Palace. This is the residence of the royal family of Mysore which encompasses two ceremonial halls, coupled with an array of courtyards, gardens and other buildings.

Later you will be invited for special lunch at the Lalitha Mahal Palace Hotel. This heritage building was erected by the Wodeyars for the special stay of the Viceroy of India in the 1920s. The central dome of this building resembles the St. Paul’s Cathedral. Later you have the option either to enjoy the comforts of Maharajas’ Express or you may choose to visit Shreerangapatnam which use to be the capital of Tipu Sultan. You enjoy the healthy breakfast and Dinner on board; Lunch at Lalitha Mahal Palace. Overnight on the Maharajas’ Express for your journey to Cochin.

DAY 06: THURSDAY COCHIN

As the Maharaja Express arrives the land of Kerala, you are served breakfast on board. Now you disembark nearly 14:15 hrs to visit a village complex where you watch various traditional arts of Kerala being practice in this model Eco Tourism village. You can enjoy Tuk Tuk ride and witness the unique Chinese Fishing Nets in action, a traditional crab farm and industry making later you proceed to an exclusive venue for dinner along with South Indian dance performances. Return back to Maharajas’ Express. Overnight on the Maharajas’ Express for Kumarakom.

DAY 07: FRIDAY KUMARAKOM

Today after onboard breakfast you proceed for a Canoe journey which is famous for backwaters in Kumarakom. As the Canoe had towards the hinterland passing through the narrow canals, savor the scenic background with the coconut palms trees. As you disembark from the Canoe get ready for lunch at an exclusive lakefront venue and you also enjoy the breathtaking Snake Boat Race. In which nearly 60 boatmen row the boat with the accompaniment of drum beats and songs. This is a sheer example of rigorous training, team spirit and sportsmen ship later return to the train for a special venue of Indian evening with drinks and dinner. DAY 08: SATURDAY DISEMBARK IN TRIVANDRUM

On the eighth day of the journey have breakfast on board and disembark at around 08:00 hours at Trivandrum which is a capital of Kerala. Now it is a time to Bid farewell to the Maharajas’ Express as the journey comes to an end with the nice memories forever!!
